About our church

A faithful, ordinary church by the lake

Lake Stevens First Baptist Church has been part of this town's story for generations. We're small, we're honest about it, and we believe that's exactly the kind of church this community can use more of.

Historic downtown Lake Stevens near the North Cove waterfront

Where we come from

Lake Stevens grew up around the water. When the Rucker Brothers opened their sawmill on the North Cove in 1907, a town took shape along the shoreline — homes, shops, and the small churches that anchored everyday life here.

We're proud to still be part of that downtown fabric. As the city renews North Cove Park, preserves landmarks like the Grimm House, and reconnects the community to the lake, we want to keep doing what small churches do best: knowing our neighbors, opening our doors, and staying put.

We're not the biggest church in the valley, and we're not trying to be. We're the one on Main Street, by the cove, that would love to know your name.

What we believe

Simple, historic Christian faith

You don't have to agree with all of this to be welcome here. But since you'll probably want to know where we stand, here it is in plain terms.

The Bible

We treat Scripture as trustworthy and worth taking seriously. We teach it plainly, in order, without spin.

Grace

We’re saved by grace through faith in Jesus — not by being impressive, religious, or having it together.

Community

Faith was never meant to be lived alone. We’re a family that shows up for one another, especially in hard seasons.

Our town

We exist for Lake Stevens — to love our neighbors, serve the city we share, and be good news on Main Street.

How we want to be

Honest about who we are

We’d rather be honest than impressive

We’re a small church, our budget is modest, and we don’t pretend otherwise. What we can promise is a real welcome and people who mean what they say.

We make room for questions

Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith — it’s often part of it. You can bring your questions here without being judged or rushed to an answer.

We’re transparent about how we operate

Decisions, finances, and leadership are open to the congregation. If you want to know how something works around here, just ask — we’ll tell you.

Thinking about coming this Sunday?

There's no sign-up and nothing to prepare. Just show up — and if you'd like, let us know you're coming so we can watch for you and save you a good seat.
